Leo Russell Farnworth, 85, passed away peacefully in his home surrounded by his family on September 6, 2007. He was born on September 5, 1922, in Mohrland, Utah to George Q. and Madaline Morley Farnworth. He was the fourth of six children. He graduated from Lincoln High School, where he excelled in athletics. He then joined the U.S. Navy and served in World War II on the U.S.S. Wasp. He married his eternal sweetheart, Mary Lucille Clemons, on May 26, 1945 in Seattle, Washington. They were sealed for time and all eternity in the Provo LDS Temple on November 9, 1974.
Leo is survived by his loving wife and six children: Kay (Lyman) Young, Terry L. Farnworth, Radene Smith, Kenna (Paul) Whittaker, Randy (Xanthe) Farnworth, Tauna (Robert) Close, and Marianne (Jerry) Miller; as well as his brother, Earl (Dorothy) Farnworth, his sister, Renee Hewitt, 18 Grandchildren, and 19 Great-Grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, and one brother. He was a professional truck driver for 38 years. Camping, gardening, Pepsi, Hershey bars, and especially Grandma's homemade cookies and chocolate cake were just a few of the many things he enjoyed. He had a strong love for the savior and enjoyed serving him in the temple. Leo was happiest when surrounded by his family. He will be remembered for the many songs and stories he shared. He will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved him.
There will be a viewing Monday September 10, from 6:00-8:00 p.m. in the Geneva Heights 8th Ward building at 546 North 500 West in Orem. Funeral services will be held Tuesday September 11, at 11:00 a.m. in the same location. Family and friends may call one hour prior to service. Interment will be at the Orem City Cemetery.
