Leonor Leyva Chavarria passed away October 17, 2024 at the University of Utah Medical Center in Salt Lake City, UT due to complications after her Lung Transplant. She was born July 02, 1969 in Pocatello, Idaho to Esteban D. Salas and Alejandra Cano Leyva. She graduated from High School in Pocatello, Idaho.
Leonor traveled and worked with her husband (Jacob Chavarria) as a Material Tester at mobile sites through out Idaho through Western Construction for 3 years prior to her lung injury. During that time, she also had a partnership tax firm Las Hermanas Tax Service with her younger sister for over 21 years.
Leonor was a very well loved and skilled Tax Consultant that touched the lives of many for over 29 years.
Leonor was a very strong person and never let people see her real struggles. She was a fighter and a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. She always radiated unconditional love. We love how family orientated she was and how she held the family together. She was deeply admired in the way that she faced hard times. Facing those hard times by demonstrating and overcoming the worst odds and obstacles by turning her life around and being a positive living example that change is possible and not to be feared. Leonor used those difficult times to learn to cherish her life prior to the decline in her health. It was amazing to see how she became even stronger throughout her health struggles. She constantly inspired us with such strength and how much she allowed her mind and body to endure because she loved us all so very much.
-“She always fought battles to live for us” – Bunny
One of Leo’s proudest moments was feeling and being fortunate to marry the love of her life, Jacob Chavarria. She also carried her greatest accomplishment in her heart, it was when she fought for her life and survived her 1st battle against her unknown lung injury in 2018.
Leo frequently shared her accomplishment by saying, “I have too much to live for, I have a new grandbaby (Akadian) on the way!” Leo clenched onto life and made it and held that baby so proudly with the biggest smile. Akadian was her true medicine and strength. In her remaining days, she showered him with tons of love and affection. Akadian is – “The other love of my life”
In the last 5 months of her life she discovered a passion for building Lego Creations. She built a small city of Legos. Her youngest grandson (Akadian) made her heart light up often as he shared the same passion and they built the Lego Creations together.
