Levaun Carmen Lyons Throckmorton, 90, peacefully passed away April 13, 2007 in American Fork, Utah. Levaun was born in Clarksburg, West Virginia, June 9, 1916 to James Lester Lyons, and Rosa Mae Bourne. Levaun was raised in Cannonsburg, Pa. and attended Bethany College in Bethany, West Virginia. She briefly worked as a legal secretary. On Feb. 22, 1940 she married Charles B. Throckmorton, Jr., in Beaver, PA. She moved with him to Provo, Utah, in 1942 during the construction of Geneva Steel. Levaun was a member of the Methodist Church,
She was a devoted, attentive, and caring mother. She loved the west, its scenery and history, and passionately pursued her hobby of rock collecting for years. After the passing of her husband in 1973, she briefly moved to Mesa, AZ., ultimately moving to Tropic, UT and working at Ruby's Inn at the guest desk and store until she was 83. She was a bright and well read woman, always well dressed, known for her pleasant smile, quick wit, and inquiring mind. She left a generational legacy of affection for cats, birds and other animals.
She is survived by her sister, Lenora M. Lyons of Houston, PA., son, Jeff, grandchildren, Jeremy, David, Heather, Laura, and Amber, and her great-grandson, Matthew. All are welcome to attend funeral services on Saturday, April 21 at 11:00 a.m. at the Provo Community Congregational United Church of Christ, 175 North University Avenue, Provo, Utah. Family and friends may call between 9:30 and 10:45 a.m. prior to the service Interment at the Provo City Cemetery.
