Lonnie D Banks August 1, 1963 to September 28, 2010 Lonnie D Banks of West Jordan, Utah passed away September 28, 2010 at his home, after a courageous battle with Lou Gehrigs Disease. Lonnie was born August 1, 1963 in Provo, Utah, the son of Johnny Delong Banks and Dalleen Thacker Banks. He is a graduate of Bingham High School and had attended the University of Utah. He had served in the U.S. Army National Guard in the Air Borne 19th Special Forces Group. He had completed PLDC and had received his National Service Medal.
As a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints he served in numerous service callings. He was the Assistant Scout Master for Troop 1068 and was recognized as Scout Master of the Year. He was the High Priest Group Leader in the Mountain Shadows Stake, West Jordan 7th Ward. He also had to opportunity to serve in the West Jordan 7th Ward Young Men's Program.
Lonnie loved to spend time doing activities that involved be outside. Whether it was riding his Harley Davison, going hunting, camping or just spending time with his family, that is where he wanted to be. It was known about Lonnie that there wasn't anything that he couldn't take apart or fix.
On October 8, 1989, he married Cari Lynn Willis in Elko, Nevada. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Jordan River Temple.
He is survived by his wife, Cari L Banks. His children; Erik Michael (Katherine) Jenkins and Jana Michelle (Cody Craig) Johnson. His father, Johnny Banks. Grandchildren, Baylee Mae Jenkins and Carter Michael Jenkins. Brothers Brett, Wyatt and Travis and sisters, Chantiel and Laura.
A funeral service will be held Friday, October 1, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. in the Cobble Creek LDS 1st Ward Chapel (8176 South 5140 West, West Jordan, Utah). The family will meet with friends Thursday, September 30, 2010 at the Church from 6 to 8 p.m. and again on Friday from 9 to 9:45 a.m. Burial will follow at the West Jordan City Cemetery. We appreciate the many kind thoughts and services that have been given our family through Lonnie's illness.
