Loretta Louise Tenney Schnars
Loretta Schnars of Denver, Colorado passed away on Friday, December 14 at the home of her daughter in American Fork, Utah. She was born on May 3, 1921 in the township of Le Sauk, Minnesota to Charles Orlando Tenney and Louise LoraHamer Windhurst. She was their third child and only daughter. Her mother passed away when she was 21 months old. At that time she was reared by many who offered to help her father. She considered herself the foster daughter of Meredith Rockwell Mayman and Esther Lillian Olsen Mayman. They raised her in her youth until she left for California in 1939. She graduated from Technical High School, St. Cloud, Minnesota in 1938 where she proudly sang in the glee club and participated in declamatory events during which she placed first several times. After moving to California she worked at the ship service building on Coronado Island. It was there she met Randolph Arnold Schnars, serving in the U.S. Marine Corps, who would become her husband on June 19, 1944. She lived in North Laguna, California until moving to his home state of Colorado a couple of years later. They resided in Idledale, Colorado until 1952. During this time their only child, Margaret Louise, was born. In 1952 they moved to Sauk Rapids, Minnesota residing there until 1955 when they returned to live in Denver, Colorado. She lived in the same home from 1956 until she came to live with her daughter in March 2007. Her husband, Randolph Arnold Schnars passed away on December 24, 1961. Christmas was never the same for her after that year. She succumbed just 10 days before his death date 46 years later. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, her parents, and her two brothers Lester, La Jolla, California and Albert, Fairmont, Minnesota. She is survived by her daughter Margaret Louise Harris and son-in-law Michael (whom she loved dearly as her only son) of American Fork, Utah. Six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren also survive: Emily Hamson (Quinn), children, Carter and Tanner, Elwood, Utah; Bethany Harris (Frank), children, Annika and James, Logan, Utah; M. Kent Harris (Kimberly), Salt Lake City, Utah; Craig Randolph Harris (Emily), son,Blake, Twin Falls, Idaho; Kimberly Larsen (Eric), daughter, Alix, Ephraim, Utah; and Tiffany Harris, American Fork, Utah. Memorial services will be held at the American Fork 19th Ward Chapel, 1305 North 100 East, at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, December 19, 2007. Visitation will take place at the church from 10 to 11:00 a.m. before the service.
