"Lori-Mom" It's with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Lori Schardt-Smith, our beautiful wife, daughter, mother, "Lori- Mom", Granny Lori, and friend. On Oct 16th, 2011, The Gates of Heaven opened at 2:59p.m, welcoming Lori with Loving joy. "We were together 21 years. In time, we will meet again, my love." Cancer ravaged our beautiful Lori in record time, 6 weeks. She passed on a gorgeous shining day, which reflected the light she gave to all of us. Her departure ripped a deep hole in the hearts of many, who knew and loved her. Her big, beautiful green eyes, made us all smile with delight. Lori was born in Portsmouth Virginia on Jan 31st, 1964. However, she grew up in Chesaning Michigan. At the age of 18, she moved with her family to Moab Utah, where she finished high school. Later, she moved to Salt Lake City, where she attended cosmetology school. She has worked the past 11 years at Scorpion Engineering, the last 6 years as office manager. A special mention goes to Scott, the best boss ever. Lori is preceded in death by her natural father Richard Schardt, and her brother David Schardt. She is survived by her parents Edna and Bob, her siblings Richard, Keith, Brent and Eric; her Husband Brian Sr., son's David, Kyle, Kohl, and Brian Jr., daughters Nicole, Kwynn Q. and Samantha, all from Salt Lake City. She has 6 grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Special thanks are given to the many doctors, nurses, hospice workers, involved with Lori's care. There will be a viewing Friday Oct 21, 2011 from 6:30 - 8:30pm at Serenicare FH. 12278 Lone Peak Parkway, Suite 102 in Draper, Ut. Funeral Services will be held at SereniCare on Saturday, Oct 22 at 11am with a viewing at 10am. Burial will take place at Elysian Gardens after the funeral service. 1075 E. 4565 S. SLC 84107. In loving memory of Lori, in lieu of flower, the family requests that donations be made to cancer research.
