LORRAINE WHITNEY NELSON
Lorraine Whitney Nelson, 83, beloved mother, grandmother and sister, joined her eternal sweetheart Clay, on December 22, 2011. She was born December 29, 1927 to Ralph E Whitney and Doris E Nay Whitney in Las Vegas, Nevada.
She attended area schools and graduated from Las Vegas High School. She married Claybourn E Nelson Jr. on September 14, 1946. Their marriage was solemnized in the St George LDS Temple on November 11, 1954. Together they raised three children, Lynn, Susan and Cindy
She lived most of her life in Las Vegas, where she retired from First Interstate Bank. She enjoyed working in her rock garden and the many trips to Mt Charleston with her husband Clay, gathering firewood and pine nuts.
She was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. She loved the Gospel and temple work. She looked forward to the day that she would be reunited with her eternal sweetheart.
She is survived by her children, Lynn G Nelson (Tami) of St George UT, Susan Lancaster (Bernell ) of Orem UT, Cindy Christensen (Kevin) of LaVerkin, UT, 16 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren. Her twin sister, Laverne McClendon of AZ, her sister Elsie Banks (Dan) of TX and her brother Keith Whitney (Vie) of Santa Clara, UT.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Clay, her parents Ralph and Doris Whitney, her brothers Calvin Whitney, Bert Whitney (Ann), Howard Whitney (Ellice).
Funeral services will be 2:00 pm, Friday, December 30, 2011 at the Sunset 2nd ward Chapel, 82 N Dixie Dr. St George, UT. There will be a viewing prior to the service from 12:30 until 1:30. Burial will be immediately following, in the ST George City Cemetery.
