Our husband father &OPA passed away in the early morning hours January 2 2010 with his children at his side. Louis was born in Nijmegen, Holland. During his life Louis had many hardships & many joys. He would always say You have to take the bitter with the sweet. One hardship he survived was being in a Nazi work camp during WWII. He met & married Corrie W Boom on October 21 1950. Immigrated to USA December 22 1952. Papa was always hard working & supported his family working 3 jobs when he was young. Started his own business in 1960 LOUIS COHEN CANVAS GOODS. The shop was his pride and joy. He worked there for 49 years with 35 yrs with his son Louis Cohen Jr which made him very proud. His passions were fishing, Dutch dances, Wendover, traveling to Europe & taking his family to nice dinners. He will miss his friends at the Amber restaurant which was a lifesaver for him in his later years. Preceded in death by Parents, 2 sisters & daughter Betty Survived by wife Corrie sister Bia(Leo) Lugten children Betty Sandquist's family (Kirk) Yvonne (Mike) Madsen Louis Jr (Lisa) Cohen 6 grandchildren Jeremy Zachary Amy Heidi Hannah & Sarah 6 Great Grandchildren & one on the way. OPA was a great help & inspiration to Jeremy & Zachary they will truly miss him. We would like to thank everyone who cared for Papa especially his family and Caresource Hospice Dr Thacker, Kathy, Sterling, Beverly, Mark & Mary. A celebration of his life will be held Saturday January 9 2010 between 2 - 5 PM at Union Labor center Building 2261 So Redwood Rd. Enter on South side of building downstairs. OPA's favorite saying was "It's a great life if you don't weaken." In lieu of flowers please donate to Louis' favorite charity St Judes Children's Hospital. Goodbye Papa OPA we will really miss you.
