Lynn Ervin Butterfield, age 58, beloved father, brother, uncle and grandfather passed away peacefully January 31, 2007.
Born March 29, 1948, in Salt Lake City, Utah, to Ervin Leroy Butterfield and Maria Lupe Lopez.
Lynn's greatest love was fishing at Utah Lake. He enjoyed cooking, his grandchildren, playing checkers and dogs. Lynn's life was filled with selfless acts, as he displayed rescuing a child from drowning in the Jordan River, a heroic act in which he was severely injured.
Survived by ex-wife Gloria Elaine Underwood - Anderson; sons, Lynn Leroy Butterfield; Allen Lee (Yumma) Butterfield, Chicago; daughter, Gail Ann (Gary) Marlin, Hawaii; and ten grandchildren; brothers and sisters, David (Emma) Butterfield, Moab; Juanita (Joel) Meza, Salt Lake City; Diane Jacobsen, West Valley; Fred (Charlene) Butterfield, Sandy; Debbie Holt, Bluffdale; Allen (Kathy) Sampson, Nevada; Jim (Lori) Sampson, Fillmore; John (Janet) Taylor, Ohio. Preceeded in death by his parents, grandparents, aunts and uncles.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, Feb. 6th at 11:00 a.m. at the Crescent Ridge 7th Ward, 11000 South 1300 East, Sandy, Utah. A viewing will be held at 9:30 a.m. prior to the service. Interment will be at Redwood Memorial Estates, 6500 South Redwood Road, following services. We will miss his infectious laugh and his love of life.
