Marion LeBaron Leany, 84, of St. George, UT, passed away June 29, 2010. He was born December 28, 1925, to Wilford and Jennie Leota LeBaron Leany in Mesa, AZ. He grew up in Hurricane, UT. His mother passed away when he was young.
He was active in high school football, basketball and track. Marion served honorably in the US Army. He graduated from USU with a BS degree in interior design and a teaching certificate in art. He married his sweetheart, Dorothy Reber on December 22, 1944, in the St. George Temple.
Marion appreciated the flowing grain in a piece of driftwood, the texture of a flower, perfect garden rows, sunsets and shadowed canyons. He transformed dilapidated furniture into exquisite antiques. As an interior designer, he owned and operated L&R Decorators with Francis Leany and Leo Reber.
He was known for his gentle demeanor, caring for the unfortunate, singing off key silly songs that he made up, and falling asleep in church.
He served in dozens of callings in the LDS Church. His favorite? Stake Dance Director 1971, 1973 at the last two All Church Dance Festivals. He and Dorothy were, stake and ward missionaries, ordinance workers, and served a mission on Temple Square.
He is survived by his wife: Dorothy; six Children: Kristine (Clyde) Ormond, Kent (Charlotte) Leany, Kim (Jana) Leany Kurtis (Kathy) Leany, Kathie Leany, and Mark Leany; 17 Grandchildren, 21 Great-Grandchildren; and a brother Francis Leany.
