MarJean Shaw Smart
Our beloved wife, mother and grandmother, MarJean Shaw Smart, 84, passed away on January 4, 2012 at Dixie Regional Medical Center. She was born December 12, 1927 in Magna, Utah to Thomas William and Maudest Nielsen Shaw. She married her sweetheart, F. Dale Smart on June 4, 1947 in Magna, later solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple.
As a graduate of Cyprus High School, MarJean was a devoted wife and mother who loved her family. She served willingly wherever she was called. She was the recipient of the first Incentive Award for Superior Work at Tooele Army Depot. In addition to being a hostess at the Beehive House, she was a volunteer for the Miss Utah Pageant and volunteered for the Reach to Recovery program of the American Cancer Society. Favorite activities included boating, fishing, waterskiing, golf, singing and dancing with her sweetheart. MarJean also served as a temple worker in the St. George Temple.
She is survived by her husband and children Pamela (Steve) Clayton, St. George; Karen (George) Mower, Tucson; Deanna (Terry) Tucker, Draper and Marcia (Randy) Cronk, St. George. She is also survived by 11 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren and her sister Shirley Farr. Preceded in death by her parents and three brothers.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, January 9, 2012 at the Bloomington LDS 6th Ward, 3519 Manzanita Road in St. George. A viewing will be held at the church one hour prior to services, where friends and family may call. Interment will follow at 12:00 noon on Tuesday, January 10, 2012 at the Tooele City Cemetery in Tooele, Utah.
