Marvin Lloyd Spoon, age 86 of Draper, Utah and formerly of Fremont, California passed away, Wednesday, August 15, 2007 at the Wentworth Assisted Living in Draper, Utah. Marvin was born March 14, 1921 at Bristow, Oklahoma, the son of Jesse Martin Spoon and Nellie Mae Miller Spoon. He served in the United States Army during the Korean War. He attended UC Berkley were he received his BA in Business.. On March 7, 1953 he married Dorothy Lou Anthony in Reno, Nevada. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Oakland, California LDS Temple on May 10, 1969. He worked as a Financial Planner for the Alameda County Public Works Department until his retirement. He served as the President and Board Member of the Alameda City 1st United Services Credit Union. He enjoyed fishing, hiking and hunting when he was younger, playing bridge and going bowling. He loved baseball, especially when the Oakland A's were playing. He is survived by his wife; Dorothy Lou Spoon, a son; Vernon Lloyd Spoon, and a daughter Laura Mae Haight. A brother; Harold Martin Spoon and grandchildren; Nicholas, Ryan, Erin, Tiffany, Caleb, Evan, Keith, Casey and Kami. Twelve nephews and nieces. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister; Margaret Louise Taylor. Services will be held Friday, August 17, 2007 at 12:00 noon in the LDS Ward Chapel at 11000 South 1300 East in Sandy, Utah. The family will meet with friends at the chapel from 10:30 to 11:45 a.m. Burial will be in the Utah Veteran's Memorial Cemetery. The family of Marvin Spoon shares their appreciation to the Wentworth Assisted Living, Comfort Hospice and South Town Ranch for all of their kind help.
