MAX L. LEE Heber City, Utah May 28, 1920 - July 31, 2007
Our loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and friend, Max L. Lee, passed away peacefully at home on July 31, 2007. He was born on May 28, 1920, in Elkhorn, Utah to Orson Monroe and Iona Lewis Lee. Max married his sweetheart, Nelda Simmons, on June 25, 1941, in the Salt Lake L.D.S. Temple. He graduated from Wasatch High School. He enjoyed his childhood on the family ranch in Keetley and his summers in Soapstone herding sheep. He worked at the Mines in Park City and Geneva Steel before beginning his 27 year career as a Rural Route Carrier for the Heber City and Midway post offices. He was also an agent with Farmers Insurance Group for many years. As a young husband and new father he was drafted into the Army where he served in Italy for two years during World War II. He loved his country and the freedoms we enjoy. He was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints where he served in many positions. He enjoyed his time as a ward clerk, stake clerk, and as a member of the Stake High Council. He especially cherished his time as a missionary with Nelda in the Kentucky Louisville Mission. Max and Nelda enjoyed square dancing and socializing with a very special group of friends they called "the crowd" for over 65 years. He loved the wonders of Mother Nature and especially loved hunting, fishing and camping with his family. He took pride in keeping an immaculate yard, weedless garden and in sharing the harvest with friends and neighbors. Max is survived by his four sons, Jerry (Marsha), Dennis (Dorothy), Rick (Debbie), and Brian (Kym) Lee; fifteen grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and sister-in-law Shirley Lee. He was preceded in death by his parents, loving wife, Nelda, brother Kenneth J. Lee and infant sister Barbara Lee. Funeral services will be held on Monday, August 6, 2007 at 12:00 noon at the Heber 7th Ward, 240 East 400 South, Heber City. Friends and family may gather at the Heber 7th Ward Building on Sunday evening from 6:00 - 8:00 pm and from 10:30 - 11:30 am prior to services. Interment will be in the Heber City Cemetery.
