Born September 15, 1916, in Juniper, Idaho, he grew up in Lehi, Utah. He was Senior Class president of his high school and during the depression years when there was no money for a high school yearbook, he rallied the students and community to produce a yearbook. After a year of college at Brigham Young University (BYU) he served a mission for the LDS Church in the Northwestern States Mission. He moved to Seattle, Washington during World War II to work for Boeing. He met his sweetheart, Sue Taylor, in Seattle and they married on September 1942. He spent the next 20 years working for the airplane industry in Seattle. He loved airplanes and was centrally involved in the development and production of Boeing's first passenger jet, the Boeing 707. He served in many LDS church positions including Bishop. Wanting to finish college after retiring from Boeing, he moved to Provo, Utah, where he completed a BA degree in 1971 and a Master's Degree in Communications in 1973. After graduation he was asked to stay on at BYU as an instructor in photography and administrative assistant to the Dean of Fine Arts. During his tenure at BYU he was a key player in planning and implementing the BYU Centennial Celebration, including managing the design and construction of the BYU Carillon Bell Tower. He retired in 1981 and filled another LDS mission with his wife to Philadelphia.
He is survived by his wife, Sue Taylor Wilson, five sons: Kelly, Bruce, Roger, Richard, and Walter, 36 grand children, more than 50 great grandchildren and two brothers and one sister.
