Melva Marie Mickelson, age 91 of Salt Lake City, Utah died Tuesday, March 06, 2007 at the Silverado Senior Living Center in Salt Lake City. She was born September 22, 1915 in Martin County, Minnesota, the daughter of George Whitfield and Maude Francis Strauser Teubner. She married Milo Sylvester Mickelson in El Paso, Texas on May 9, 1943. She attended and graduated from the Winnebago High School and the Minnesota Art Institute. Her love and talent was art. She worked as a commercial artist doing freelance drawing in publishing. She worked for Young/ Quinlin, Donaldson's Department Store and Augsburg Publishing. She was a member of the Lutheran Church and had drawn many art pieces for the Central Lutheran Church and the Mount Olivete Lutheran Church in Minnesota. She was a member of the Central Lutheran Church congregation. Her life was filled with wonderful experiences. She had her art, and her summers spent at Bay Lake in northern Minnesota. She is survived by her children; Joan Mickelson of Minneapolis, Minnesota, Karen Ober of Salt Lake City, Utah and George Mickelson of Madison, Wisconsin. She had three grandchildren and one great grandchild. She was preceded by her parents, her husband, and a brother Joseph Teubner. Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 10, 2007 at 1:00 p.m. in the Mount Olivete Lutheran Church. There will be a family viewing, Friday, March 9, 2007 from 4:00 to 5:00 p.m. at the Washburn-McReary Davies Chapel (23rd Hennepin and Dupont Ave South in Minniapolis) followed by a viewing with friends from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Burial will be in the Lakewood Cemetery on Saturday preceding the service at 11:00 a.m.
