Melvin Jay LeBaron

Melvin Jay LeBaron, Ph.D., 77, loving husband, father and grandfather, passed away Thursday, June 19, 2008. He was born November 14, 1930, in Barnwell, Alberta, Canada, to Homer Neal LeBaron and Luella Pearl Wight. As a youth, he grew up on a farm in Barnwell, Alberta, Canada. He discovered he didn't enjoy farming and wasn't very proficient in working on the farm.
He attended high school in Barnwell and then traveled to Provo, Utah, and earned a Bachelor's Degree at Brigham Young University in Public Relations. He later obtained his Doctorate Degree in Public Administration at the University of Southern California. He is the author of five books. His career is long and very productive. He worked to establish Team Building and Corporate Coaching and applied these principles, about which he wrote, while working with organizations such as Disneyland, The FBI, city governments, and foreign governments -- such as Vietnam, Thailand, and Australia. He was also Mayor of Brea, CA. from 1979-1982.
Melvin was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and completed a mission in Australia. He worked as teacher in the various organizations and temple worker in the Los Angeles Temple.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Ina Joan Mackay, to whom he was married on July 16, 1953, in the Cardston Alberta Temple. They were married for 43 years and were blessed with 5 children. He was also preceded in death by a son, Melvin Scott LeBaron, Sister, Pearl LeBaron Baker; Brothers, Lawrence LeBaron; Don LeBaron. Melvin married Dianna Sue Brown on March 15, 1997, in Brea, Orange County, California. They were later divorced.
Melvin is survived by this wife Lois Mae Petersen, to whom he was married on December 2, 2004, in Elk Ridge, Utah County, Utah. He is also survived by his children, Wendy Joan Davison, Brea, CA; Janeal LeBaron, Placentia, CA; Bradley (Claudia) LeBaron, Mapleton, UT; Graydon LeBaron; his 15 Grandchildren and 19 Great Grandchildren.
Friends may visit the family from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Elk Ridge 5th Ward building, 450 Park Drive, Elk Ridge, UT 84651. Funeral Services will be held in the same building on Saturday, June 28, 2008, at 1:00 p.m. Interment will be in the Barnwell Cemetery, Barnwell, Alberta, Canada.
