MerrillLee Amodt

Our beloved mother, grandmother and friend, MerrillLee Amodt, 62, died peacefully on August 24, 2008 in St. George, Utah surrounded by her loving family, after a short illness. MerrillLee was born March 17, 1946 in Greenville, California to Albert and Bobby Jean Weinberg Maddocks. She married Larry Amodt on November 11, 1965, later divorced.
After graduating from South High School in Salt Lake City, Utah, MerrillLee spent a 30- year career with the United States Postal Service working in Salt Lake City, Vernal and St. George, Utah. After retirement, she also enjoyed working at Village of Many Nations Resort in East Zion and at Rosecrest Manor in St. George. An active member of the LDS Church, she immersed herself in Native American culture, geneology, herbology and was an avid Mountain Man enthusiast. But most of all, she loved her family.
MerrillLee is survived by her children Andria (Tony) Amodt-Ho, San Antonio, Texas; Jennifer (Bill) Hammond, Scenic, Arizona; Ame (Russell) Lowe, San Jose, California; Sean (Gina) Amodt, Virgin, Utah; Michael Amodt, Las Vegas, Nevada and Christian Amodt, St. George, Utah. She is also survived by her father, step-mother Ann Smart-Pearce; brothers Larry, Mark and Charles; sisters Kathy, Beth, Linda and Nanette; many wonderful grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 30, 2008 at the Virgin LDS Ward, Mill Street in Virgin, Utah. A viewing will be held one hour prior to services at the church where friends and family may call. Interment will follow at the Virgin City Cemetery. A balloon release for her grandchildren will be at 3:17 p.m. in the Virgin Town Park.
Special thanks to Dr. Ryan Lewis, MD and the incredible ICU Nurses and Staff at Dixie Regional Medical Center. Online condolences may be made to the family at www.serenicare.com.
