Michael Kurt Barlow

Michael Kurt Barlow 1967- 2011
Michael Kurt was born August 26 1967 in Salt Lake City to Anna Lee Harper and John Mack Barlow. He passed away peacefully after a sudden illness on July 5th. He is survived by his two wonderful sons Cassidy Ray and Kai Israel and their mother Amy Kelson. He is also survived by; his parents, his brothers Dave Barlow (Lisa) and Eric Barlow (Julie), his sisters LaNette Jacobs (Michael) and Kayleen Ivison, step-mother Sondra Barlow, step-brother Mike Anderson (Tracy) and many nieces and nephews. He was proceeded in death by his step-father Ray Harper, brother-in-law Mark Ivison and brother James Ray Harper. He was loved by all. Mike was a very passionate human being. There were two things in this life that he was head-over-heals most passionate about; his two sons and Ute football. It was when "Cass" was born that Mike found his meaning for life. Cass and Mike had a very special relationship. They played together, worked together, watched out for and took care of each other. Mike and Cass were best friends. He will be sorely missed. Kai was Mike's 4 year old source of joy. Mike was a devoted father to both of his sons. Mike was a very friendly guy. When he first met anyone that person started off being Mike's good friend. Mike had a lot to say about just about every subject but if you wanted to get him really excited just mention Ute Football. An avid Tail-Gate(r), Mike loved football and he had many good friends associated with the game. Mike had many talents. He worked in many different areas of the construction trade but his best talents are the ones that are hard to measure like his talent for friendship. Mike was "gifted" with the Barlow family trait of "Talking big". (As a family we like to call it salesmanship) Mike had a talent that he had perfected and honed over the years of getting out of doing things. He was SLIPPERY. Mike's special talent was trouble. When the family got together the nieces and especially the nephews were often times unbelievably loud and uncontrollable and at the source of all the trouble would be Uncle Mike. They loved him. Mike's "talents" often got the best of him. On the outside he was a big tough guy but on the inside he was vulnerable and easily damaged. It was his tenderness that made so many people love him and want to help him. There are so many people that reached out to Mike with your prayers and a helping hand it would be impossible to thank you all. We would like to mention his brothers Dave and Eric who gave of themselves unconditionally. Also his mother who never stopped believing in Mike, and Bishop Roger Firmage who spent countless hours caring for Mike. We would all gladly do it all again. "Today the world lost a dad, a brother, a son and a really awesome Uncle. I know he will be right there next to us cheering the Utes on. RIP Uncle Mikey, you will be greatly missed by all who knew you. XO Love you." JaNell Barlow a niece.
