Michelle Suzette Anderson Whitaker

Michelle Suzette Anderson Whitaker - passed away in her home on February 26, 2009 in Salt Lake City, Utah. Born July, 8, 1961 in Rapid City, South Dakota to James S. Anderson and Melba E. Beemus, who later divorced. She was preceded in death by her Father. Michelle spent most of her childhood in Southern California as well as Sandy, Utah where she grew up in what is now the Mt. Jordan 2nd Ward of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day-Saints. Michelle attended Jordan High School in Sandy, as well as Granger High School in West Valley City. Michelle excelled in Music and Drama and played such roles as: "Mother Abbess" in "The Sound of Music" as well as many others. She later attended Dixie College in St. George, UT where she entertained audiences and won "The Performance of the Year" award for her portrayal of "Bloody Mary" in the musical "South Pacific". During the Summer, she was also a member of The Pioneer Courthouse Players' Summer Repertory Productions. She competed on the Speech and Debate team and enjoyed performing with the Program Bureau performance group as well. She then attended Cosmetology School in Sandy, and became a professional Cosmetologist. In 1986 she married Lynn Martin Whitaker, and later, divorced. Michelle loved singing and listening to all kinds of music. She enjoyed movies, theatre, going dancing and she loved to collect things; her favorite being penguins. Michelle's favorite color was purple and for a time when she was married, she lived in Italy, which she dearly loved. Michelle is survived by: (Daughter) Elyse Michelle Whitaker, (Son) Christopher Lynn Whitaker (both of Salt Lake City), (Mother) Melba E. Beemus (of Sandy and St. George, UT), "Mom Mary" (Henderson NV),. (In-laws) V.R. and JoAnn Whitaker (West Valley City, UT), (Brothers and Sisters) Dee and Barbara Anderson (Sandy, UT) Scott Anderson (St.George, UT) Jerilyn Sant and David Cross (Toledo,Ohio), Marvin and Angela Anderson (Perry, UT) Heidi Anderson (St. George, UT) (Step Brothers and Sisters) Jeff and Pat Brereton (Layton, UT), Joni and John Sayers (Altus, OK) JaLyn and Roger Ward (Salt Lake City, UT) Robert and Virginia Beemus (Salt Lake City, UT) and many nieces and nephews. Services will be held at the Sandy 2nd Ward Chapel, 9340 S. 4th E, Sandy, Utah at 11a.m. Friday, March 6th, 2009. A viewing will be held from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Internment will be at the Sandy City Cemetery.
