MYRON ROBERT CONN, AGE 92, BELOVED HUSBAND, FATHER, GRANDFATHER, GREAT-GRANDFATHER, UNCLE, AND FRIEND PASSED PEACEFULLY AWAY ON JUNE 4, 2010 AT HOME WITH HIS FAMILY IN SALT LAKE CITY, UTAH.
BORN IN COALINGA, CALIFORNIA ON DECEMBER 12, 1917, THE SON OF JOHN CARY CONN AND FLORENCE GERTRUDE LUCK, BOB GREW UP ON HIS FAMILY RANCH. HE WAS EDUCATED AT THE UNIVERSITY OF CALIFORNIA-DAVIS, REED COLLEGE IN PORTLAND, OREGON AND THE UNIVERSITY OF WASHINGTON IN SEATTLE.
BOB WAS A MAJOR SERVING IN THE U.S. AIR CORPS DURING WORLD WAR II AND WAS A LEADER IN THE PLOESTI RAID, FOR WHICH HE RECEIVED THE SILVER STAR, AS WELL AS MANY OTHER CITATIONS FOR MERITORIUS SERVICE AND BRAVERY. HE MARRIED KARMA NIELSEN IN SALT LAKE CITY ON JUNE 17, 1944. THEY WERE SEALED IN THE TEMPLE AND ARE THE PARENTS OF THREE DAUGHTERS AND ONE SON, ELEVEN GRAND CHILDREN AND SIXTEEN GREAT-GRANDCHILDREN.
IN ASSOCIATION WITH A FRIEND AND PARTNER, BOB ESTABLISHED MICROFILM AND COMPUTER GRAPHICS COMPANIES THAT MICROFILMED GENEALOGICAL RECORDS FOR THE LDS CHURCH WORLDWIDE. THIS COMPANY WAS LATER PURCHASED BY TRANSAMERICA CORPORATION.
BOB WAS ACTIVE IN HIS CHURCH CALLINGS AFTER JOINING THE CHURCH IN 1947. HE WAS A SEALER IN THE ST. GEORGE AND SEVERAL OTHER TEMPLES FOR 20 YEARS. HE WAS ABLE TO SEAL IN MARRIAGE MANY OF HIS CHILDREN AND GRANDCHILDREN, WHICH BROUGHT HIM MUCH JOY AND HAPPINESS. HE AND HIS WIFE SERVED A MISSION IN MEXICO CITY FOR THE LDS CHURCH.
ROBERT IS PRECEDED IN DEATH BY HIS PARENTS, BROTHER LARRY, SISTER ALICE AND SON JOHN. HE IS SURVIVED BY HIS WIFE OF 66 YEARS, KARMA NIELSEN CONN, HIS DAUGHTERS; MARCIE ALLEY (STEPHEN) OF BOUNTIFUL, UTAH, BEVERLY HARBERTSON (NILE) OF SALT LAKE CITY, UTAH, MICHELE CONN, OF LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA; HIS GRANDCHILDREN; MARC ALLEY, BENJAMIN ALLEY, BRANDON ALLEY, MEGAN LYMAN, KRISTEN JOHNSON, JAREN HARBERTSON, BROOKS HARBERTSON, SUMMER HARBERTSON, MCKENZIE MYERS, MORGAN LUND YEN, WYATT LUND; AND 16 BELOVED GREAT GRANDCHILDREN.
FUNERAL SERVICES WILL BE HELD THURSDAY, JUNE 10, 2010 AT 11:00 A.M. AT THE VETERAN'S MEMORIAL CHAPEL AT CAMP WILLIAMS, 17111 CAMP WILLIAMS DRIVE, RIVERTON, UTAH. INTERNMENT AT VETERANS MEMORIAL CEMETERY.
