Nedra W Farrington

Our beloved Wife and Mother, and the sunshine of our lives, Nedra Winters Farrington, passed away on Sunday, February 3, 2008. She was born in Coalville, Utah on June 9, 1950 to Mont Clarence Winters and Shirley Clark Brown and grew up in Hoytsville. She attended Utah State University on a 4H Scholarship awarded for her skills in sewing. She also attended a business college in Salt Lake City to learn key punch. Nedra married Alan Kenneth Farrington on November 8, 1975 in the Manti Temple. She spent most of her life as a wonderful homemaker. Her jobs outside the home included working as a bookkeeper at Lavoy's and as a secretary at Vineyard Elementary School. She was active in the LDS church and faithfully served in various callings in the ward and stake; her favorites included serving in the primary with the children. She enjoyed helping her Mother with genealogy work and attended the temple often. Nedra loved taking many pictures of her friends and family and putting them into albums. She always had a good time shopping for gifts for others. She had tremendous ability to keep our home clean and organized, the budget balanced, and her family fed with good meals and treats. She always made our home a warm and welcome place to be.
Nedra enjoyed the simple pleasures of life and especially loved family get-togethers, holiday celebrations, and socializing with everyone. Chocolate was definitely one of her simple pleasures, and there was always a stash somewhere in the house! Her life was spent in self-less service and she put others before herself. She uplifted others often through stories, jokes (especially blonde jokes!), and chocolate. She was kind and giving, a good friend to all, and was always there to help others. Some of her best attributes were her sense of humor, genuine nature, and charitable heart. Her family was her love, pride, and joy and she was ours and will be dearly missed. She is survived by her husband, Alan Farrington; her son, Aaron (Tara) Farrington; and her 3 daughters, Melanie (Carlos) Shumway, Alicia (Bert) Argyle, and Michelle (John) Williamson; 6 grandchildren; her 2 brothers, Larry (Joy) and Don (Lori) Winters; and sister, Barbara (Dennis) Davidson. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, February 9 at 11:00 a.m. in the LDS church at 1105 W. 600 S. in Orem. The viewing will be held Friday, February 8 from 6-8 p.m. and Saturday from 9:30-10:45 a.m. at the same location.
