Nelda Simmons Lee 1922-2007

Our loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend, Nelda Lee, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family on June 2, 2007, just two days before her 85th birthday. She was born on June 4, 1922 in Charleston, Utah to Heber J. Simmons and Violet B. Daybell. Nelda married her sweetheart and the love of her life, Max Lee, on June 25, 1941, in the Salt Lake L.D.S. Temple. She graduated from Wasatch High School. She loved to quilt and do needlework and won many sweepstakes and blue ribbons at the Wasatch County Fair. Mom enjoyed reading, crocheting and cooking and we all enjoyed her wonderful orange rolls and cherry pie. She sang in the church choir and with the Choralettes for nearly 12 years. She loved square dancing and spending the winters in St. George with her sweetheart. Many hours of compassionate service were given caring for her father and brothers. Her hands prepared many meals for others and she found joy giving service to those around her. She enjoyed traveling, camping with her family and playing cards and games with them. Mom loved her Heavenly Father and was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints where she served faithfully in many positions. She also enjoyed doing genealogy work. Max and Nelda cherished their time spent serving in the Kentucky Louisville Mission. Her greatest accomplishment was being a wonderful wife and mother to her four sons. She loved her family and her life was centered around them and her home. She is survived by her husband, Max; four sons, Jerry (Marsha), Dennis (Dorothy), Rick (Debbie), and Brian (Kym) Lee; fifteen grandchildren, nine great grandchildren; two brothers, Lester (Wanda) and LaVerl (Barbara) Simmons; and three sisters, Faye (Ross) Giles, Flora (Wayne) Wilkins, and Annie Lou Pope; and sister-in-law Shirley Lee. She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Dean and Marvin Simmons; and two brother-in-laws, Rulon Pope and Ken Lee. Her family would like to thank Dr. Greg Taylor and IHC Hospice for their loving care, and the family, friends and ward members who have been so supportive of Mom and Dad. Funeral Services will be held Thursday, June 7, 2007 at 12:00 noon at the Heber 7th Ward, 240 East 400 South, Heber City. Friends and family may gather at the Heber 7th Ward Building on Wednesday from 6:00 - 8:00 pm and from 10:30 - 11:30 am prior to services. Interment in the Heber City Cemetery.
