Nephi Hurley Pratt of Salem, Utah passed away on January 2, 2009. He was preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Elaine McBride. Hurley is survived by his five daughters: Sandra Hall, Louise (Jeff) Wynn, Neva Lewis, Ellen (James) Walker, and Laura Jane Pratt, and one son, Reo (Merle Burnham) Pratt. He is also survived by one sister, Rose Winnifred Burnham. He had 27 grandchildren and 30 great-grandchildren. Born in Mesa, Arizona, Hurley was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He served his mission to the Central States mission in 1937-1939. He married Elaine McBride in the Mesa Arizona temple on July 17, 1946. Together they served as workers in the Mesa, AZ, Oakland, CA, and Provo, UT temples. He and his wife, Elaine, served a mission to the Montana Billings mission from 1991-93. Hurley's passion for photography led him to a 60-year career as a newspaper photographer, lithographer, and offset pressman. A talented musician, he sang, led church music, and played the trumpet and the flute in community orchestras and church music productions. He will be greatly missed by his children and grandchildren, fellow ward members, and all who knew him. The family expresses deep appreciation to all who have assisted in his care.
Funeral services for Brother Pratt will be held at the Knoll Park Meetinghouse in Salem, 160 S 460 W at 11 a.m. A viewing will be held prior to the services in the same building at 9:30 a.m.
