Grandma Norma passed away Saturday February 27, 2010 surrounded by family who loved her very much.
Norma was born in June 1928 to Bruno Karpowitz and Leone Olsen Karpowitz in Salt Lake City, Utah. She attended Highland Park grade school, Irving Jr. High, and graduated from South High in 1946.
She was a resident of Las Vegas from 1955 to 2005 where she worked as a Deputy Recorder in the Clark County Recorder's office for 25 years. In 2005 she returned to reside in Lehi, Utah until her death.
She was married to Douglas K. Keddington in 1948 in the Salt Lake Temple for time and all eternity. He preceded her in death in 1964. After several years she married H. L. (Dell) Ahlstrom in 1968. He also preceded her in death in 1998.
Norma is also preceded in death by her parents, Bruno and Leone Karpowitz, her sisters Phyllis Sweeten, and June Hiatt, and her brothers Bud Karpowitz and Robert Karpowitz, and a grandson Daniel Roberts.
She is survived by her brother Frank Karpowitz, (Alice) of Salt Lake City, sister in law Barbara Karpowitz, of Orem Utah, and brother in law Dr. Roberts L. Sweeten of Salt Lake City. Also survived are her two daughters, Terri Roberts (Gorden) of Highland, Utah and Debra Ahlstrom (Fred, step-son) of Las Vegas, Nevada and a step-daughter Glenda Fielen of Elcajon, California. Norma is also survived by 17 grandchildren and 33 great grand children who were her pride and joy and the love of her life as well as many nieces and nephews. She will be dearly missed.
Norma is a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and held many different positions during her years in Las Vegas.
Norma has requested that there be no local viewing or service. It is her wish that a private graveside service be held in the Salt Lake City cemetery where she will be laid to rest next to Douglas K. Keddington.
