Patricia Pamela Cortes Nash was greeted by the loving arms of her mother after a year long battle with heart failure due to Amylodosis on December 16, 2019.
Born in Concepción, Chile on June 15, 1956, she was known as Pamela by family, Patty by friends. She immigrated to the United States with her parents, Mario and Alde Cortes and her eldest sibling Sonia.
Patty grew up in Connecticut and moved to Miami in her late teens.
She studied nursing at Miami Dade Community College and Robert Morgan Technical. As a registered nurse she worked in various settings: hospitals, home health, and private care as a loving compassionate nurse.
For nearly 10 years, Patty served her country in the Florida National Guard and Air Force Reserves.
She married in 1982 and had three children: Frank Anthony “Tony” (Rosemary) Nash, Melody Elyse Belnap, and Aaron Eddison “Eddie” Nash.
She was a devoted disciple of Jesus Christ who enjoyed serving in many callings for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. She most enjoyed serving with the young women and was even known to take them to “string” the bishops home.
Like her mother, she was very crafty and enjoyed making jewelry, crocheting, and working with ceramics. She had a collection of precious stones and geodes. Pamela was also known for her love of color and the whimsical things of life; no neutral pallets for her. Tie-dye’s and rainbows were her favorites.
Pamela would look daily for her “postcards” from Heavenly Father, a flower, rainbow, or sunset. She taught of the beauty of God’s earthly creations to her family and friends. She truly found peace in nature.
In most recent years, her grandchildren brought joy and laughter. Although illness has taken her before she deserved, she touched many lives for good. We will truly miss her and we look forward to when we will all be reunited.
In addition to her children, Pamela is survived by her grandchildren: Abigail, Jeffrey, Shawn, Harmony, and Liam; and her sisters: Sonia Jansen, Cindy Tulowiecki, and Ingrid Bettridge.
Funeral service for Pamela will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday, December 20, 2019, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 2505 N. Church St., Layton, Utah. A time for gathering and sharing memories will be held at the church from 1:00 PM until the time of the service. Interment will follow the service in the Syracuse City Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to Ramapo for Children, a camp that was near and dear to Pamela, https://ramapoforchildren.networkforgood.com/
