Petrona Mijangos

Petrona passed away February 14, 2025 in Sandy, Utah.  She was born April, 27 1937 in San Rafael, Las Flores, Guatemala to Evaristo Mijangos and Candida Morales.  She married Emilio Mijangos on October 31, 1955 in San Rafael, Las Flores, Guatemala. Together they had seven children.    Petrona was a nanny, maid and jewelry salesperson. 

Through determination and hard work, she achieved one for her greatest accomplishments - bringing her family to the United States of America to build a better future.  Her perseverance and dedication also led her to own multiple pieces of land in Guatemala, a testament to her vision and resilience.

Petrona found joy in life's simple pleasures - crocheting beautiful handmade pieces filled with love, taking peaceful walks to appreciate nature, and always leading helping hands to those in need.  Her kindness and generosity touched the lives of many, and her warm spirit will be deeply missed.    

She is survived by her children; Sandra, Maricela, Luis, Enrique, Teofile, Teresa and Edgar.  Grandchildren; Velvet, Daniel, Luis Angel, Edgar, Luis, Gary, Joshua, Steven, Jacob, Eric, Christina, Alex, Brandon and Gabby.  Great grandchildren; Enoch, Healani, Debra Lee, Mahori, Ashton, Luis, Chole, Elliot, Eva, Samuel, Giana, Brandon, Charlie, Adriene and Emilio.  

She is preceded in death by her parents and husband, Emilio.  

A funeral service will be held Friday, February 21, 2025 at noon at the LDS Chapel located at 7250 South 300 East, Midvale, Utah 84047.  There is a viewing before the funeral from 10:00 am - 11:45 am.  Burial will be at the West Jordan City Cemetery.
