Loving husband, father and grandfather, Philip Smith Nunley passed away peacefully with his family at his side on August 8, 2012. He died after a short battle with Acute Myeloid Leukemia. Phil was born in 1931 to Raymond and Rosemoyne Nunley. He graduated from Granite High School. Shortly after graduation he married the love of his life Sharron Marie Gane in the Salt Lake Temple. They were married for 59 wonderful years with lots of love and laughter. Phil started his career painting with his father and brothers and in the 70's started his own business. His attention to detail earned his reputation as a master painter and followed through to his other great passion, antique car collecting. Phil loved traveling to see car museums throughout the world and attending car tours in one of his many beautiful cars, including many of Bill Harrah's Reno tours. Phil was awarded the "Best Dressed" gentleman by Sammy Davis Jr. Phil served on the Concourse d' Elegance board of directors for many years and was a member of the Horseless Carriage Club, Early Ford V8 and Thunderbird Clubs. Phil could talk for hours to anyone about his car collection. After becoming a grandpa his most cherished moments were spending time with his granddaughter and grandson. He is survived by his wife Sharron and his only child Allison (Stoney) Beck. His beloved Granddaughter Alesha Marie and his Grandson Cameron Philip. His brothers and sister, Paul, Lynn (Donna), Terry (Rayleen) and Dawn Champion and Brother in law Gene (Arlene) Gane. Funeral services will be Monday, August 13th at 12pm at the Cottonwood 7th Ward 5565 South Neighbor Lane . A visitation will be held on Sunday, August 12th from 4-6pm at Holladay Cottonwood Mortuary 4670 South Highland Drive and on Monday 1 hour prior to services. Interment Holladay Memorial Park Cemetery. In lieu of flowers please make donations to Shriners Hospital or the American Cancer Society.
