On Sunday, March 19th, RaMay Rasmussen, beloved devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister and aunt passed away. She was seventy-nine.
She was born to loving parents Zelma Viola and Soren Eskel Peterson, on February 3, 1944. She is the sixth child out of ten, and the fifth girl out of six.
RaMay met her husband of 59 years, Val Rasmussen while working at the Hi spot (hamburger joint) in south Orem.
They were married on March 7, 1964.
She worked for Smiths in the Service Deli for over 20 years where she learned how to make delicious salads and chicken and retired as the manager of the Pleasant Grove Service Deli where lots of customers became friends.
RaMay had previously been active in her local Daughters of Utah Pioneer group for many years. RaMay and Val were also members of the Good Sam Trail Dusters chapter and enjoyed camping and the various social get togethers with their chapter friends.
She enjoyed traveling and has been to many places and locations. She loved to travel with family the most.
She also enjoyed playing many games with family and friends.
She loved her family and spending time with them. When asked what kind of gift she would like for her birthday or Christmas, "time" was often the answer and the best gift someone could ever give her.
She was always so concerned about others, trying to help those in need. Finding ways to be of service, offering compassion and help to those who were struggling.
She enjoyed making soup and having Val deliver it to others in need or simply for friends to share.
Her soups were always extremely good, custom made from scratch with no recipes followed. She had the ability to simply start from scratch and end up with a masterpiece.
She is survived by her husband, Val. Their five sons, Shane (Julie), RaVal (Jennie), Tad (Martha), Jade (Christy), Ron (Candace), and 31 grandchildren and great grandchildren.
The funeral will be held on Friday March 24th at the Parkway 8th Ward, 2876 W 1390 N, Provo, Utah, starting at 11 am with a short viewing starting at 10 am.
A viewing will be held the night before from 6pm to 8pm at the same location.
She will be very missed but we also know she is doing service on the other side, making spiritual soup and continuing to watch over her family and others.
She will always hold a special place in our hearts.
Until we meet again.
The family would like to give a special THANK YOU to all those who helped in caring for her these last few months.
