LAYTON - Ramon Philip Sexton, 74, gracefully and courageously completed the transition from this life to his eternal home on September 19, 2009. His zest for living was evident during his valiant battle against colon cancer. Ray was born on August 28, 1935 to Philip J. Sexton and Vera L. Spaulding Sexton, in New Troy, Michigan. He graduated from Buchanan High School and achieved his college diploma in Education from Michigan State University. He married his high school sweetheart, Bernice Joy Holston, on November 8, 1954. Though he had a satisfying professional life, his greatest joys and hobbies included his family, gardening, fishing, bird-watching, and golfing. His desire was that he be remembered for raising kind and loving children. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, daughter Lori (Danny) Thompson of Steamboat Springs, CO, sons Tim (Cathy) of Idaho Falls, ID, Steve of Layton, UT, and Jeff (Sharon) of Steamboat Springs, CO, seven grandsons, eight granddaughters, two great-granddaughters, his father and two sisters. He is preceeded in death only by his beloved mother. The family wishes to express their deepest gratitude for the numerous friendships he had through Washington Heights Baptist Church and especially to Judy Abdulla for so logically and lovingly presenting God's word to him so that we now know one day we will all live together in Heaven and to Hank Green for offering our family such gentle comfort during dad's final hours. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to The Open Hand Ministry at Washington Heights Baptist Church, www.washingtonheights.org.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday the 23rd at Washington Heights Baptist Church, Ogden, Utah. Friends will be received one hour prior to services.
