Ray Edward Marshall passed away early Sunday morning, April 15, 2012, after a short but courageous battle with lymphoma cancer. Born in Tempe, AZ, to Edward D and Caroline Melvina Hagaman Marshall, Ray lived most of his life in California and Utah. In his youth, he served a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the Mexico Mission. Ray graduated from Fresno State College in 1966 with a degree in Business with a computer specialty, which led to a 34-year career with IBM in software development management. He enjoyed cooking, genealogy, and gardening. He was also an accomplished self-taught organist and music aficionado. From 2002-2004 Ray served a records preservation mission with his wife in the Scotland Edinburgh Mission.
Ray is survived by his wife Kay Christiansen Marshall; children Rebekah (Rodney) Campbell, Alice (Scott) Orton, David (Chrissie) Marshall, James (Christy) Marshall, Sarah (JJ) Roskelley, and Edward (Cynthia) Marshall; 15 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; and siblings Judy (Art) Leavitt, Susan (Michael) Jones, and John (Suzanne) Marshall.
A viewing will be held from 9:30 - 11:30 am on Saturday, April 21, 2012, at the Orem Canyon View 8th Ward Chapel, 1090 N. 400 E., Orem, UT, with services to follow at noon. Interment will be at the Orem Cemetery. Donations in Ray's honor may be made online to the LDS Temple Patron Assistance Fund.
