Santa Clara, UT - Reed Archibald Haslam, age 78, passed away Thursday, March 31, 2011, in St. George, UT. Reed was born October 17, 1932, in Wellsville, UT, to Henry G. Haslam and Charlotte Archibald Haslam. Reed was married to Barbara Anne Brown and later divorced. He then married Shirley Jeanne Sessions on November 3, 1984, in Ogden, UT. They were sealed in the Logan LDS Temple on August 6, 1988.
Reed was a native of Wellsville, UT. He enlisted in the United States Army right out of high school and served for twenty years. He was involved in the Korean and Viet Nam Wars and was a P.O.W. in Korea. Following his military service, Reed was employed with Mountain Fuel (Questar) for fifteen years.
Reed served two missions with his wife, Shirley. He also served as a temple worker in Ogden, UT, Fresno CA, and St. George, UT. He was an active High Priest in the Santa Clara Third Ward and was involved with family indexing.
He is survived by his wife, Shirley; children, Brenda (Rick) Gildart, Virginia (Randy) Day, Cindy (Kenny) Ryan, Carrie (Bob) Ebert, Cathy Haslam, Pamela Palmer, Jeffrey (Wendy) Sessions, Jan Sanford, Kim (Penny) Sessions, and Mark Sessions; brothers, Gerald (Bernice), Donald (Shirley), and Jack (Karolyn); sisters, Beth (Cloyd) Jessop, and Fay (Howard) Burderer; thirty-six grandchildren; and fifty-four great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, LaGrand and Dean; and a sister, RaeArta.
Funeral services will be held Monday, April 4, 2011, at 11:00 a.m., at the Vineyards Chapel, 630 Riesling Ave., Santa Clara, UT. A visitation will be held Sunday, April 3, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the chapel, and again on Monday from 9:30-10:30 a.m. prior to services. Graveside services will be held Tuesday, April 5, at 11:00 a.m., at Leavitt's Aultorest Memorial Park, Ogden, UT.
