Reed DeVerl Wight, died on Thursday, September 20, 2018. He was born in Ogden on March 9, 1927 to Reed Joseph and Gladys Davis Wight. He graduated from Ogden High School and attended 2 years of college. On September 11, 1946 he was married and sealed to Velda Holmes in the Salt Lake Temple. During WWII he served in the Navy.
Reed was a hard working poultry expert. He gave life long service in the LDS Church including a Mission to Cambodia, and Inner City Mission, and 8 year service Mission at Temple Square.
Reed loved life and Family. He enjoyed flying his airplane, fishing, hunting, traveling and just playing. He loved music and singing. He leaves a Legacy of working hard and playing hard to all his posterity.
Surviving Reed is his wife of 72 years, Velda; children: Glen (Beverly) Wight, Karen (Dale) Chase, Carol (Craig) Hess, and Mary Ann (Rodney) Hardy; 22 grandchildren; 82 great-grandchildren and counting; and sister, Peggy Plyer. He was preceded in death by daughter, DeAnna Davis and great-grandson, Gideon Daniel Chase.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, September 24, 2018 at the LDS Chapel, 4955 Adams Avenue, South Ogden, Utah. A viewing will be held at the church on Sunday, September 23, 2018 from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM and again on Monday from 9:30-10:30 AM. Interment will be in Lindquist Washington Heights Memorial Park.
