Reva Kinghorn Macfarlane Crook Higgins (November 13, 1920 ~ October 30, 2012)
Reva Kinghorn Higgins, 91, of Orem, passed away October 30, 2012, at a Beehive Home in Orem.
She was born November 13, 1920, in Lewisville, Idaho, the daughter of James Franklin and Elsie M. Green Kinghorn.
She attended school in Lewisville and graduated from Midway High School in 1938.
Reva married Sterling Macfarlane on May 26, 1939, in the Logan L.D.S. Temple. They raised their two daughters, Elsie and Marie, in Logan, Blackfoot, Idaho, and Pittsburg, California. They were later divorced.
Reva moved to the Provo/Orem area in 1966.
She attended Brigham Young University and graduated in August 1970 with a degree in Speech and Drama.
She held many different jobs and especially enjoyed being a volunteer with the Senior Companion Program.
She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Day Saints and served in callings in all of the auxiliaries of the Church including Relief Society president of the Pittsburg California Ward.
She sang with the Sweet Adelines, loved to travel and remembered Hawaii as her favorite vacation.
Reva had many hobbies. From a young age she liked to write and was involved in writing groups for many years. She also enjoyed knitting, ceramics, and painting.
Reva is survived by her two daughters, Elsie Lawson and her husband Jon of St. George and Marie Marchant of Orem. She is also survived by Elsie's children, Todd (Marylynne), Paul, Chad, and Taryn Jessen (Brayden), and their children, and Marie's sons, Martin, Jeffrey (Lynn), David (Aimee), and daughters, Christine Worthington (Marshall) and Stephanie Ash (Quinn) and their families. She had fifteen great grandchildren and one great great grandson. Reva's fifteenth grandchild, William Marchant, was born to her grandson David and his wife Aimee within minutes of her passing.
She is also survived by her sister-in-law, Alice Kinghorn, of Lewisville, Idaho, and her nieces and nephews.
Reva was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Frank, her son-in-law, Bill Marchant, her former husband Calvin Crook and her husband Virgil Higgins.
A memorial service for family will be held on Saturday, November 3, prior to interment in the Orem City Cemetery under the direction of SereniCare Funeral Home.
