Rex Christian Matson passed away October 29, 2006 at his home in Provo, Utah. He was born in Mount Pleasant, Utah March 17, 1920 to Joseph and Hannah M. Matson. He married Jeannine Frandsen on December 18, 1946 in the Manti LDS Temple.
His family includes four children, Larry J. (Lea) Matson of Sandy, Kenneth F. "Zack" (Elizabeth) Matson of Orem, Marylynne (Matt) Urie of Las Vegas; and M. Peter (Michelle) Matson of Layton, 16 grandchildren, and his sister Margaret Katsenevas of Salt Lake City.
Rex was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and served in many capacities in the Church including bishopric, high council and scouting. He attended Brigham Young University and worked for Security Title and Abstract in Provo for 35 years. He served in the U.S. Army and was a veteran of World War II and Korea.
Funeral services will be held at the Provo Edgemont 9th Ward chapel, 4300 North Canyon Road in Provo at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, November 4, 2006. A viewing will be held on Friday, November 3rd at the Provo Edgemont 9th Ward from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Friends may also call from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. prior to the funeral services on Saturday. Interment will be at the Mount Pleasant Cemetery following the funeral services on Saturday at approx. 1:00 p.m.
