Rex Van Webb 1946 - 2011
Rex Van Webb returned to his Heavenly Father the evening of Friday, September 16th 2011. He lived in Highland for the past 13 years, where he worked as an LCSW at Utah State hospital and, before that, at Wasatch Mental Health. Rex was born on March 7, 1946 in Pocatello, Idaho, the last-born son of Le Roy and Ardis Mae Merkley Webb. He grew up in Twin Falls Idaho, and spent much of his early years in national parks, where his father worked building roads. He Graduated from Twin Falls High School in 1965. He served as a missionary in England, and returned to complete a B. S. and an M. E. degree at Brigham Young university in 1972 and 1973 respectively, and an M. S. W. from the University of Utah in 1997. Rex loved to spend time in the mountains and he was devoted to his family. Naturally, taking trips with his wife, children, and grandchildren, especially to wilderness locations and national parks, was one of his favorite ways to spend time. He also delighted in movies of all sorts and even spent much of his youth working in movie theatres. Above all, however, he enjoyed spending time with his wife, Colleen, who he always proclaimed was the love of his life and his greatest joy. Rex is survived by his Wife, Colleen Webb, his children, Trent Webb (Kristy), Nicole Webb (Tim), Royce Webb (Ann), Aubrey Webb, and Jeremy Webb (Tammy); his siblings, Alan Webb, Larry Webb, Nola Higley, Gloria Dopita, and his twin sister Rita Bartlet; and four grandsons and four granddaughters. He is predeceased by his parents, Le Roy and Ardis May Merkley Webb. The family would like to thank the Cardiac Progressive Care Unit at UVRMC, Dr. Tyler Carroll, and Dr. Scott Bingham for the great care they provided. The family will meet with friends at the Highland LDS East Stake Center (4679 W. 11000 N. Highland, UT), on Tuesday, Sept. 20 2011 from 6:00-8:00 pm and Wednesday, Sept 21 from 9:30-10:45 am. The funeral service will be at the same location and will begin at 11 am. Interment will be in the Highland Cemetery following services.
