Richard Raymond Anderson, 85, passed away Friday, July 3, 2009. Richard was born October 9, 1923 in Los Angeles, California to Raymond Anderson and Amy Schmeltz. He married Anne Blandino in April 1955.
Richard was a member of the Marine Corps and served in World War II, landing on Iwo Jima on Feb. 19, 1945, and serving in occupied Japan. We are very proud of his service. Richard owned a motel in St. Augustine Beach, Florida. He then lived for fourteen years in Jacksonville, Florida, before moving to South Jordan, Utah, where he spent the last 20 years of his life. He joined the LDS Church in 2004.
Richard is survived by his children, Robert, and Cheryl Keith (Penrod), and by 4 grandchildren, Alyssa Smith (Corey), Michael, Alexandra and Timothy. He was preceded in death by his wife.
A graveside service will be held at the So. Jordan Cemetery on Thursday, July 9 at 11:00am. Heartfelt thanks to Love Hospice, and nurses Rose, Lisa, Holly and Kim, as well as members of the South Jordan 1st and 2nd Wards for the attentive care during the last months of Richard's life.
