Richard Dixon Childs passed away in his home Saturday, April 21st, 2007 due to complications of Parkinson's disease.Richard was born December 4th, 1951 to Myron DeVere and Maurine Dixon Childs in Provo, Utah. He graduated from Springville High School and Snow College. Richard also attended Utah State University. Richard was active in FFA and received many awards in the program. He lived in Springville all his life until he was married on April 4th, 1975 to Trudy Jensen of Mapleton where he then spent all but the last two years of his life. Richard and Trudy and their children were later sealed in the Manti Temple. He spent his life as a rancher, first raising sheep and later raising cattle. He was a hard worker, even with his many physical challenges and business hardships brought on by various government agencies. Richard loved fishing, hunting, and being outdoors with his family and friends. He helped many people during his life, welcoming them into his home. He was honest and felt that your word and a handshake was all that should be needed. Richard accomplished much during his life, but was unable to fulfill his last wish of seeing his two grandchildren, Tryston and Jaiden, who live in Washington State.
Richard was preceded in death by his mother and father. He is survived by his wife, Trudy; his four sons, Yancy, Cody, Rory, and Dustin; his four grandchildren, Madilyn, Noah, Tryston, Jaiden; his two brothers, John and Steven Childs; and his four sisters, Kathlene (Robert) Yates, Ann (Lanny) Daybell, Judy (Tom)Lucia, and Kristine (Greg) Osborn; his mother and father-in-law, Bernell and Lola Jensen; his brother-in-law Terry (Linda) Jensen; and also his many nieces, nephews, and friends.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, April 28th, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. in the Mapleton 14th Ward Cultural Hall located at 1316 South Main Street in Mapleton. Funeral arrangements made by Sereni Care Funeral Directors.
The Childs family would like to thank all the family and friends that have been so supportive. Trudy Childs would also like to thank Yancy, Cody, Rory, Dustin, Madilyn, and Noah for their love, support, and help with Richard each day while he endured his remaining time here on earth.
In lieu of flowers a memorial fund has been set aside for the family at Central Bank. Donations can be made to the Richard D. Childs memorial fund at any Central Bank office.
