Richard Roy Hoover passed away August 27, 2012 in Taylorsville, Utah. He was born November 4, 1941 in Provo, Utah to Wells Frank and Maude Chappell Hoover. He married the love of his life, Sharn Laraine Huff in the LDS Salt Lake City Temple on May 15, 1970.
Richard attended Provo High School graduating in 1960, Brigham Young University graduating in 1969 and served an honorable mission to Germany in 1966. He served in the Utah National Guard from 1964 - 1970. Richard was employed at JC Penney in management for 30 years and See's Candy for 10 years. While at JC Penney he was honored for hundreds of hours as Chairman of the Chamber of Commerce West Fest Christmas Parade.
Richard served as an LDS Bishop twice and served as a High Priest. His hobby was Christmastime and he loves Christmas sparkles. He participated in the Festival of Trees for many years. He loves floats for Christmas, 4th of July and the 24th of July, Fashion Shows for JC Penney and he was a wonderful Grandpa!
He is survived by his wife, Sharn, and his four sons, Richard Wells (Salli), Troy John (Stephanie), Todd Alton (Erica) and Ryan Royal Hoover, all of Salt Lake City, Utah. He is also survived by his two grandchildren, Troy Jr. who was his best buddy, and Cayla who is Grandpa's little sweetheart as they shared the same birthday. Oh, how Grandpa loves his two grandchildren and they love him! He is also survived by his sister-in-law, Evelyn Hoover of Provo, Utah.
Funeral Services will be held Tuesday, September 4, 2012, 11:00 a.m., with a viewing prior at 9:30 a.m. at the Taylorsville 1st Ward Chapel located at 4845 Woodhaven Drive, Taylorsville, Utah. Interment will be Wednesday, September 5, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. at the Spanish Fork City Cemetery, Spanish Fork, Utah. For more information see www.serenicare.com.
