Robert John Haremza, age 63, of West Jordan, Utah and formerly of Chicago, Illinois passed away Wednesday, September 15, 2010 at his home in West Jordan.
Robert was born January 29, 1947 in Berwyn, Illinois, the son of Edward E. and Joan Rees Haremza. He attended schools in Cicero, Illinois, graduating from Morton East High School.
Robert served in the US Army from 1968 to 1974 as an MP. While serving in the military, he had been stationed in Japan at Camp Zama.
Robert married twice in his life, once in Cicero, IL to Yvonne Kujawa to which they later divorced and then to Nancy Daniels which ended when they divorced, too.
Robert made his career in Information Technology. He worked for Jewel Food Stores and then for American Food Stores known as Albertsons. While working in the grocery industry he was instrumental in the development of the bar code scanner that simplified the grocery experience. After retirement, he found he wanted to work and continued keeping himself busy by joining with Delta Airlines, Teleperformance USA, UDOT and Jordan Valley School.
Robert has a son, Mitchell, who is physically challenged. Robert worked to design an adaptive chair for Mitchell to help him get around. He also made chairs for others with similar challenges like Mitchell's. He enjoyed being able to create. Some of his favourite things were photography, woodworking and cooking.
He is survived by his daughter; Danielle (Matt) Badon, and his son; Mitchell Haremza. His mother; Joan Haremza and a sister; Janet (Chuck) Bonniwell. He has three grandchildren; Christian, Cassandra and Jesse as well as a nephew; Brad and a niece; Jill Bonniwell. He was preceded in death by his father; Edward E. Haremza and a son Steven Haremza.
