Robert Norris Rowley, age 87 of Ivans, Utah, passed away August 28, 2010 in St. George, Utah. He was born August 9, 1923 in Knowles, California the son of William Eugene Rowley and LeVonne Gibbs Rowley.
Robert attended schools in Englwood, California and became a Draftsman and Structural Engineer working for Allen Steel Co. and Stott Inc. He started Tech-Steel Co. in 1964 and worked as the President of the company until he retired in 1983. He served in the U.S. Army Air Corp during World War II.
He was a rock and much more. He had great passion for his work with rocks and silver. He made beautiful jewellery and art. He had pride in his service and craft and because of that, he would not sell his jewellery but gave it away to those who appreciated it. He was known for his beautiful stones that he made into jewellery.
He loved to teach and taught classes at the Senior Center in Bountiful, Utah and Delapedary Classes in St. George. He often donated the stones he had collected for others use and welfare.
Robert served on the Ivan's City Council for a time. He was a master bridge player and wrote a Bridge Column for the St. George News paper. He was a published author and was almost complete with his second book.
He was an avid bowler, tennis and pool player. He was very good at everything he did, except losing.
Robert's marriages gave him a great inheritance of family. He made families with his first two wives, Dorothy Annis and Veda Duste. His third marriage was to Collene Moss to whom he was married for 29 years. He preceded him in death in 2002. His love was Carole Sue Jacobson in whom he married and together lived in Ivan, Utah at the time of his death.
Robert is survived by his wife; Carole Sue Rowley. His children and step children; Johnny (Colleen) Rowley, Bobby Rowley, David Rowley, Allen (Kiyomi) Rowley, Mark (Cheryl) Rowley, Richard Rowley, Shawn (Tonja) Rowley, Cathlene Beecher, Michael (Teri) Rowley, Patrick (Jackie) Rowley, Kelly (Debbie) Rowley, Midge (Jody) Rowley, Craig Sanders, Bob (Chris) Sanders, Gene (Elise) Sanders, LeiAnn Bothemess, Sherry Reynolds, Lisa Delray, Nicholas (Crystal) Delray and Rick (Christina) Delray. Brothers and sister, Bill Rowley, Jim (Fern) Rowley and Volene Kemp. He was also survived by 58 grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a wife; Collene M Rowley and his son, Donald Rowley.
A family memorial service has been planned for a later date. The family expresses their appreciation to the Intermountain Hospice team the cared for Robert during his stay at the Dixie Regional Medical Center, especially to Diana and Steffani.
