Robert William Spencer
Ivins, UT - Robert (Bob) William Spencer, age 83, passed away Tuesday, December 28, 2010, at his home in Ivins, UT. He was born March 9, 1927, in Montpelier, ID, to Seymour Horne and Sarah Sophronia Quayle Spencer. Bob married Audrey Jeanette Sparks on September 8, 1952, in the Salt Lake Temple. After losing his mother at the age of nine, Bob's father moved his young family to Fillmore, UT, where Bob and his sisters spent the remainder of their childhood. He served in the military with an honorable discharge and later served a mission in Toronto, Canada. Bob attended BYU for two years and also attended the University of Utah for one year. Bob and Audrey made their first home in Salt Lake City and later moved to Bountiful. He was a member of the LDS church and actively served in many positions, including twelve years as an ordinance worker in the Salt Lake Temple. Bob started playing the trumpet in dance bands at the age of fourteen. He also played the trombone and enjoyed singing. He loved his profession as a part-time musician and continued to play and sing most of his life. His work as a manufacturer's representative required a lot of travel. In order to be home more, Bob consulted with his family and decided to purchase laundromats.
He is survived by: his loving wife, Audrey; 5 daughters, Jan (Doug) Weaver of Grand Junction, CO, Terri Tchernoivanov of Gilbert, AZ, Laurie Spencer of Salt Lake City, UT, Kelly (Mike) Angus of Roosevelt, UT, Sara (Bryce) Cook of Mesa, AZ; son, Craig (Donna) Spencer of St. George, UT; 12 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; and 3 sisters, Norma (Gordon) Beckstrand of Alpine, UT, Beth (Doyle) Robison of Highland, UT, and Joan (Claire) McKee of St. George, UT. He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Helen Spencer Whatcott.

Funeral services will be held Monday, January 3, 2011, at 1:00 p.m. at the Red Cliffs Eighth Ward LDS Chapel, 625 E. Center St., Ivins, UT. A visitation will be held prior to services from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the chapel. Interment will follow in the Ivins City Cemetery.
