Ronald (Ron) Graham Snyder, age 75, passed away December 6 at his home in Payson, Utah following a lengthy illness.
Ronald was born on January 23, 1934 in Wichita, Kansas, the only child of Everett and Ruby (Clark) Snyder. Most of his childhood was spent in Larned, Kansas. In 1949 the family moved to Caé±on City, Colorado. In November, 1952 Ronald married Lucy Yvonne Webb. Cheryl Layne was born in 1963, and Ronna Lu was born in 1965. In 1964, Ronald and Lucy opened "Snyder Portraits" photography studio. Through much dedication and hard work, they built a respected and successful business. He was a true artist and a perfectionist in his work, known for his wedding, high school senior and portrait photography. For many years, he photographed school pictures for all the students in Caé±on City and the surrounding area.
He was a long-time member of Professional Photographers of America, and attended many conferences, schools and competitions, winning numerous awards for his photography, and serving as a board member of Professional Photographers of Colorado. He was a member of the Rotary Club and the Caé±on City Chamber of Commerce, serving on a committee which was instrumental in bringing movie productions to the Caé±on City area. He was a member of the Caé±on City branch of the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, serving for a time as Pastor. Ronald and Lucy divorced in 1983. In 1989, Ronald became a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and married Mary Kathleen Walsh Mack in February, 1991 in the LDS Denver Temple. In the LDS church, he served as Elders' Quorum President, Sunday School President, Bishop's counselor, High Counselor and Home Teacher. Ronald and Kathleen moved to Payson, Utah in 2006. Ronald served in the Provo LDS temple until his illness.
He is survived by his wife, Kathleen, his daughters, Cheryl (Daryl) Olsen of Rexburg, Idaho and Ronna (Robert) Stiefvater of Raleigh, North Carolina, his grandchildren, Kiersten and Nathan Olsen and his former wife, Lucy Snyder of Pueblo West, Colorado. He is also survived by Kathleen's six children: Leon (Carleen) Mack, Marc (Michelle) Mack, and Bruce (Vangie) Mack, all of Watertown, South Dakota; Miriam (Ed) O'Connor of Sioux Falls, South Dakota; Bartley (Rosemary) Mack and Gerard (Jennifer) Mack, all of Gilbert, Arizona; thirty-seven grandchildren, and one great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by his father, Everett Snyder in 1970, and his mother, Ruby (Clark) Snyder in 2005.
Funeral Services will be held Thursday, December 10, 2009 at 11:00 AM at the Mountain View 2nd Ward Chapel, 600 East 75 South, Payson, Utah. A viewing will be held Wednesday, December 9 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM and one hour prior to the service. Both viewings will be held at the Mountain View Chapel. Interment at the Payson City Cemetery.
