Ross L. Diamond passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family on Tuesday, September 16, 2008. He was born May 7, 1942 in Payson, Utah to Glen LaVell Diamond and Thelma Marie Omanson Diamond of Springville, Utah.
He married Mary Frandsen and later divorced. He then met the love of his life and eternal companion Betty K. Limb and they were married on December 19, 1975 in Payson. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Provo temple on April 23, 1981. Ross grew up in Springville, Utah attending Springville high school, and receiving associates degrees in both drafting and diesel mechanics from Utah Valley State College. Ross was a jack of all trades starting his professional life at Thorpe burial vaults in Springville following that he worked as a carpenter and construction worker for Steve Miller Construction in Springville as well as for Walt Limb Construction in Payson. During this time he built many of the schools, churches and government buildings in Utah County. He then worked as a machinist at Pacific Sates Pipe Company in Provo. He then started his own company as owner and operator of Diamond Concrete in Salem. He worked for many years as a millwright at Geneva Steel in Provo/Orem. In 2004 he realized his life long dream when he and his wife Betty renovated and then opened the Diamond Grill in Salem, Utah.
Ross truly enjoyed the many church callings which he held. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed Fishing, Boating, Hunting, Camping, 4-wheeling, tournament shooting and generally anything outdoors with his family. His other loves were watching ice skating, listening to opera and eating tomatoes.
Ross is survived by his loving wife Betty, his children Brad R. (Glenna) Diamond, Springville, Troy L. (Natalie) Diamond, Springville, Tammy K. (Chad) Mitchell, Springville, Thane K. (Cris) Diamond, Provo, Jared L. (Bobbi) Diamond, Payson, Bret L. (Ashley) Diamond, Salem, Derrik L. Diamond, California, 13 grandchildren and his siblings: Ilene (Vanell) Wall, Naomi Diamond (sister in law), Don (Doralee) Diamond, Shirley (Dean) Vincent, Beverly Whitney and Wilma (Loren) Sleight and many friends. He was preceded in death by his loving parents Glen and Thelma Diamond and his brother Dell Diamond.
A viewing will be held at the Payson 7th Ward Church located at 1128 E. 100 S. Payson, Utah on Thursday, September 18th from 6-8pm. Funeral services will be held on Friday, September 19th at 11:00am with a viewing held at 9:30-10:30am at the same location. A short graveside service at the Payson Cemetery will follow.
