Obituary Notice for Rulon Wesley Taylor Jr.
Rulon Wesley Taylor Jr. of St. George Utah - Wesley, age 80 passed away on August 26, 2011, at his home in St. George Utah. He was born March 16, 1931 in Garfield Utah to Rulon W. Taylor Sr. and Geniel Moyle Taylor. He married Marilyn Joyce Jackson in the Salt Lake Temple on June 26, 1951.
He was raised in Garfield and Magna Utah. After he graduated Cyprus High he was called to the Northern States Mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and received an honorable release when called by his country to serve in the Marine Corps serving in Quantico, Virginia.
He was an entrepreneur throughout his life starting several family businesses such as Taylor Heating, Riverton Video, General Contacting, and Synthetic Rock and Concrete Overlay. Through these he taught his children trades and how to work preparing them for life.
He was very active in his church; serving in many callings with a desire to serve the Lord. He served in Bishoprics and as a Bishop, 19 years on the High Council, scouting, and many other callings in his lifetime. Many people were blessed by his service.
He loved to camp, fish, hunt, taking his kids and grandchildren out shooting, getting stuck in the mud, visiting ghost towns, and being outdoors with his family. He loved his canyon property up Fairview Canyon which he helped develop making a place for his family to enjoy the gifts of nature.
He is survived by: his wife, Marilyn; their Children, Rulon, James, Tim, Ron, & Kim and their spouses; 17 Grandchildren & 15 Great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and a granddaughter Shelli.
Funeral services will be held Friday, September 2, 2011, at 11:00 a.m. at the LDS Church, 259 N. Mall Drive, St. George, UT. A viewing will be held prior to services from 9:00 a.m. - 10:30 a.m. at the church. Interment will take place at the Utah Veterans Memorial Park in Bluffdale, UT, on Saturday September 3, 2011, at 10:00 a.m.
