Ruth Starley Cahoon
Cedar City, UT - Ruth Starley Cahoon, age 91, passed away Thursday, May 5, 2011, in Cedar City, UT. She was born June 13, 1919, in Delta, UT, to William Jupp and Ava May Stevens Starley. Ruth married Leo Cropper Cahoon February 28, 1941, in the Salt Lake City LDS Temple. They had recently celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary.
Ruth attended Brigham Young University and earned a Bachelor's degree in Education. She was a homemaker and had three children: Kay Lynn, Steve, and Paul. Ruth had many interests and hobbies. She enjoyed playing the piano and xylophone and writing family histories. She also enjoyed embroidery, ceramics, and writing. She was a member of the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers and received special recognition for her service.
She is survived by her husband, Leo; children, Kay Lynn C. Cammack, Steven L. Cahoon, and Paul M. Cahoon; grandchildren, Stephanie Lawrence, Lynette Standerfer, David Cammack, Cary Cahoon, Cami Fabiano, Darin Cahoon, Amy Cahoon, Scott Cahoon, Nicole Petersen, Kelsey Oldroyd, Matthew Cahoon, and Kaitlin Cahoon; twenty-one great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, May 11, 2011, at 11:00 a.m., at the Cedar View Ward LDS Chapel, 320 S. 1925 W., Cedar City, UT. A viewing will be held prior to services on Wednesday from 9:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Interment will be in the Cedar City Cemetery.
