Our sweet Oma, Ruth Cieslak, 81, passed away peacefully June 7, 2008 after a valiant and faith filled battle with cancer. Ruth was born in Heyda-Doeblen Sax. Germany on July 3, 1926, the only child of Curt Holm and Martha Milda Buettner Boden. She lived through WWII where as a teenager, lost both parents. She joined the LDS church after meeting Hyrum J. Cieslak and they were married August 25, 1951-later being sealed in the Logan Temple. They escaped from East Germany in Dec. 1952, came to Utah in Feb. 1955 with 3 small children and later had 2 more children. Ruth, along with her husband served many full-time missions for the Church in Europe and one in Virginia, served many years in the Jordan River Temple and provided the Gospel to many through her love of genealogy. She is best known and loved for her wonderful meals, beautiful plants and gardens, stories of life in Germany and her unconditional love. Oma was happiest when she was surrounded by family and we are sure she is surrounded on the other side by family, especially her parents. Ruth is survived by her husband, children: Eva (Rolf) Schruhl, Harry (Kathy), Judy (Henk) Dorenbosch, Harold (Carmen), and Henry (Brenda), 20 grandchildren and 35 great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents and grandson, Richard Schruhl. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, June 17, 2008 at 12:00 p.m. at the River Ridge 1st Ward Chapel, 10200 So. 1300 W. Friends may visit with the family Monday June 16, from 7-8:30 p.m. at the church and 10:30-11:30 Tuesday morning prior to services. Interment: South Jordan Cemetery. Funeral arrangements were made by Serenicare at 12278 Lone Peak Parkway #103, Draper, Utah . We love you Oma and know that families are eternal. We look forward to a great reunion again someday.
