Samuel Lee Hendrickson (1989–2025) Samuel “Sam” Lee Hendrickson, 35, of Surprise, Arizona, and Hyrum, Utah, passed away on February 22, 2025. Born in Logan, Utah, on November 7, 1989, to Linda and Lee Hendrickson, Sam was known for his infectious laughter, unquenchable positivity, and larger-than-life presence. At 6’3”, he was big in stature and even bigger in heart—an avid protector, a fierce friend, and an absolute warrior.
Sam spent his childhood moving between Utah, Idaho, and Washington, but he always found his place in sports and the outdoors. He was an extraordinarily talented football player, earning All-State honors as a defensive end for the Mountain Crest Mustangs. Growing up, he was a lovable troublemaker with his siblings, always using his size to his advantage—until being tickled became his kryptonite. He was an active member of the Boy Scouts of America, earning many badges and spending hours with incredible leaders. He also enjoyed road-tripping and spending time with his step-sister, Melanie who was a significant influence in his life.
From an early age, Sam dreamed of becoming a Marine. After graduating from Mountain Crest High School in 2008, he made that dream a reality joining the United States Marine Corps. He excelled in training, earning his expert marksmanship badge, and deployed to Sangin, Afghanistan, in 2011 with the 1st Battalion, 5th Marines. He fought with courage and distinction, forming unbreakable bonds with his fellow Marines in the heat of combat.
Following his military service, Sam married Lisa Noldan, and together they welcomed four beautiful daughters: Scarlett, Madison, Brielle, and Brooklyn. He was a devoted girl dad, never hesitating to wear pink, rock crazy shirts or blast Taylor Swift for his daughters. They were the light of his life. Though he and Lisa later divorced, they remained committed co-parents. In time, Sam met Kristen Marcum, with whom he was engaged and planned to share his future. They shared a deep connection, and Kristen played a significant role in supporting both him and his daughters.
Sam had a talent for working with his hands and became an exceptionally skilled carpenter, rising to the rank of journeyman and crew boss with Southwest Concrete Formwork. He could build just about anything, and he took pride in upgrading his beloved F-250.
More than anything, Sam will be remembered for his ability to make everyone feel special. He had an incredible gift for loving and including others. His presence was always the highlight of any gathering, especially to his many nieces and nephews. His absence leaves an immeasurable void, but his memory will live on in the hearts of those who loved him.
Sam was preceded in death by grandmother Boots Hendrickson, grandparents Herbert and Jenny Dieffenbacher, Claron and Nora Allen and sister in-law Ashley Hendrickson.
He is survived by his beloved daughters, Scarlett, Madison, Brielle, and Brooklyn, grandfather George Hendrickson, parents Linda Hendrickson, Lee and Judy Hendrickson, siblings, Erick Hendrickson, David (Stephanie) Hendrickson, Seth Hendrickson, Melanie Anderson, and Jennifer (Ryan) Maughan, along with many family members and friends who cherished him.
