Samuel Maurice Kalm Jr., our loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend, passed away peacefully on July 10, 2008, at age 81, after a 16 year struggle with Alzheimer 's disease. Born April 2, 1927 in Salt Lake City, UT to Samuel Maurice and Afton Brown Kalm. He attended East High and the University of Utah. He served his country in the Army Reserve for 9 years. Sam married the girl of his dreams, Jeniel Barlow, October 17, 1950 in the Salt Lake Temple. Their marriage was blessed with nine wonderful children. He was a great father and provider, a helpful neighbor and community member. Sam was involved in many occupations ranging from real-estate, milk-man, snow removal, to owning and operating his own janitorial business (Clean-Way Janitorial). He enjoyed snow skiing. He joined the National Ski Patrol in 1950, and volunteered on Brighton Ski Patrol. Boating at Bear Lake, being a Scout Master, coaching little league baseball and hockey, monthly get-togethers with long-time friends, and the Dinner Group were some of his special interests and hobbies. Survived by his devoted wife Jeniel, daughters Kathy (Lyle) Williams, Karen Kalm, Kristine (Brad) Handley; sons Scott Kalm, Steven (Kathy) Kalm, Jeffrey (Alina) Kalm, Casey Kalm; eleven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by his parents, daughters Jeanine and Marie. We express appreciation to special caregivers of the Salas Home Care and Holladay Healthcare for their compassionate care. Viewing will be held Tuesday, July 15 from 7-9 PM and July 16 from 10-11 AM. at Winder 3rd Ward, 4551 S. 1200 E. Services begin Wednesday, July 16 at 11:30 AM.
