Sandra Jeanne Stone Otterstrom Price
Sandra returned to live with our Heavenly Father and many others waiting for her on June 16, 2008.
Wife, Mother, Sister, Grandmother, Great-Grandmother, Aunt and Missionary were many titles she wore, but she was best known as My Love, Mom, Nana, Sister Otterstrom and Sister Price.
She was born August 15, 1943 in Glendale, California to Ira Corbett Stone Jr. and Margaret Irene Loutensock. She was raised in the San Jose, California area and graduated from Campbell High. She attended Brigham Young University where BYU blood ran through her veins.
As a youth she loved water-skiing and camping. She met the first love of her life at Huntington Beach. She married Frank Thomas Otterstrom on his birthday, December 27, 1962 in the St. George LDS Temple. They had four children, Rick (Susan) of Blackfoot, Idaho; Tom (Lorie) of Spanish Fork; Ron (Gina) also of Spanish Fork; and Robert, who died as an infant and has waited for this day to be with his Mom.
They moved to Salem in 1970. On April 8th, 1977 she thought her world came to an end when she lost her true love, Tom. He was called home to Heaven at the young age of 38. She was left with 3 young mischievous boys to teach. On that stormy day, there was one cloud with a very silver lining. When she had questions with the insurance, a wise bishop introduced her to a friend of Tom's that was the district manager for Blue Cross and Blue Shield.
Albert Thomas Price had lost his wife a few years earlier and the boys loved his English accent and his double driveway at his home on the pond that was perfect for riding skateboards in. Mom soon purchased her own skateboard as well as surprising the boys with a canoe. She would watch the boy's row around Salem Pond, but we think she was watching Bert pruning his hedge.
God carries us through our hard times, usually on the backs of others. The boys fell in love with him and so did Mom. She found a second true love, which is very rare in this world. After a unanimous decision, Albert and Sandra were married October 15, 1977. Sandra inherited another son, Mike (Sunny) Price of Ogden, and a daughter, Chris (Brent) Wade of American Fork.
Mom served in several callings in the church. Her favorites were Young Women's and Girls Camp. She has had a very positive influence on many young women over the years. She stayed in touch with several. Mom learned from her dad how to play practical jokes and was better than most. She could do things with a Dutch-oven that many people only dream about.
Mom and Dad served 3 missions together. Two were to the England London South Mission and the third a service mission to the Canada Calgary Mission. She helped set up one of the first Girls Camps in England. They often talked of the joys of their missions. They loved the people and missionaries that crossed their paths.
Mom and Dad moved to Manti with a dream of opening a Bed & Breakfast. They ran Legacy Inn for a few years before they started having some health problems. They have lived in Payson for the past 7 years.
Bert and SanDee have 18 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Tom, son Bobby, and her sister Pat. Besides here children and grandchildren, she is survived by husband Bert, her parents, Ira and Margaret Stone (St. George), her sister Denise & Jim McArthur (St. George), Rich Horsley (Evanston, WY), Chris & Bruce Jensen (Kaysville), Sue & Denny Williams (Simi Valley, CA), Marilyn & Gary Killpack (Layton) and several nieces and nephews.
There will be a viewing in her honor Friday, June 20th from 6-8 pm at the Salem LDS chapel located at 60 South Main, Salem, Utah. Funeral services will be Saturday, June 21th in the same building. A private family viewing will begin at 9:30 am with services starting at 11:00 am. Interment will be at the Salt Lake City Cemetery. ELMER!!!
