Scott Leonard Hathaway, age 31, of Provo, Utah, died Sunday, July 17, 2011 at his home. Scott was born on Dec. 31, 1979 in Caldwell, Kansas. As a newborn infant, he was adopted by Bruce and Janice Hathaway while they were stationed at Ft. Leonard Wood, MO. The family moved to Marshfield, WI, where Scott and his younger siblings attended school and he received his Eagle Scout Award in 1994. Later, they moved to Greenville, NC, where he graduated from the J.H. Rose High School in 1998. Following high school, he attended Louisburg College in Louisburg, NC and later attended Utah Valley University. Most of Scott's employment has been in construction, using his interests and skills. Scott loved hiking, camping, rock hunting, and fishing. On Sept. 10, 2005, Scott married Amelia Jane Cary ("Amy") of Orem. They were blessed with two daughters, Abigail Grace and Emily Jane. Scott was a member of the LDS Church and involved in various assignments. Scott was friendly and outgoing, endearing himself to many. He was loved and will be greatly missed by those who knew him. Scott is survived by his wife and two daughters and by his parents and 4 siblings: Heidi (Provo); Heather (Greg) Astill (Boise, ID); Hillery (Oahu, HI); and Benjamin (Provo). He is also survived by his grandmother, Cora Hathaway Elggren (Riverton). Funeral services will be held Fri., July 22, 2011 at 11 a.m., preceded by a viewing from 9 to 10:30 a.m., both in Timpview LDS Chapel (2900 N 650 East, Provo). Internment will be in the American Fork Cemetery (600 N Center Street, American Fork).
